Why is Colic the most common emergency callout?

Colic cases make up a large percentage (sometimes up to 30%) of emergency callouts at veterinary practices nationwide, but why is colic so frequently seen?

There are many reasons your horse can get colic, but one of the most common causes is a lifestyle that doesn’t cater for natural feeding habits. Nature designed your horse to graze for about 16 hours a day, and this is very different to the domestic life our horses are often given. Not only does this create digestive problems, but it can also lead to stress, and even individually both are common causes of colic.

Prevention is always better than cure! Eazigrazer hay feeder provides your horse with simulated grazing behaviour and that all important little and often feeding pattern.
